About my teaching…
I cultivate an energetic, enthusiastic, encouraging learning environment, a safe place where both colleagues and students can come for inspiration and advice, expanding their awareness, opening themselves to new possibilities, and discovering new ease and enjoyment in their musical and non-musical endeavors.
I believe in teaching the whole person, addressing individual fears and problem areas while building on strengths. I teach the efficient use of breath, tongue, and body position to promote increased enjoyment, comfort, and musical expression in performance. My approach is highly individualized, encouraging development of creative thinking and self-expression in each student, with emphasis on self-exploration and humor.
